A man who allegedly harassed women at Sydney’s Bondi Beach has been arrested in the ocean after a two-hour stand-off with police.

At around 2.30pm yesterday police were called to Bondi Beach, having received reports of a man was intimidating women. 

The 38-year-old Woollahra man fled into the water when officers approached him on Thursday afternoon and stayed there for two hours.

Police were told that the man was allegedly harassing women in a ‘sexually inappropriate way.’

Lifeguards, an off-duty officer, a police helicopter crew and water police were called to the beach. 

The man was eventually caught in the water by two men who jumped from a jetski and grabbed him at the southern end of the beach. 

He was taken to Waverley police station and was charged with resisting or hindering a police officer and intimidation offences. 

He was granted conditional bail to front Waverley Local Court on March 3.

A shocked onlooker caught the incident on video and posted it to social media. 

The footage shows up to five officers standing on the beach whilst the man is captured by two men jumping from a jetski. 

The social media user joked: ‘It’s all happening at Bondi. Probably overdue parking fines! #bondi #bondirescue #bondipolice’
