Bearded Wayne Rooney returns to the UK from Washington after DC United season ends – and looks worlds away from his Derby footballing days
Wayne Rooney stepped out in Cheshire on Friday as he made a visit back to the UK amid his United DC managing duties in Washington.
The bearded football star, 36, looked worlds away from his sporting days when he played for Derby County just two years ago.
Following the end of the MLS season, where Rooney’s side finished bottom of the league, the doting father-of-four has returned from Washington to his family including wife Coleen in England.

Unlike his first spell in the USA, Coleen and his children have stayed at home in Cheshire after struggling to settle in 2018.
As he stepped out he opted for a casual ensemble, wearing a grey tracksuit and padded black jacket.
He completed his low-key look with white trainers and a black cap as he ran errands in Alderley Edge.

Rooney retired as a player when named Derby’s permanent boss in January 2021.
Speaking to The Telegraph recently Wayne said that he becomes a ‘taxi driver’ when spending time with his family.
He said: ‘The kids are off school so I’ll go back to being a taxi driver for a few weeks and then look to try and get some time away on holiday for half term’.

Rooney was only appointed manager on July 12, and has since been committed to rebuilding the club. He said: ‘The mentality and the character of the club needs to improve.’
Speaking about the next upcoming season, he added: ‘It’s a big offseason for us. If we’re going to compete, if we’re going to be successful, there will have to be big changes, and quite a few of them.
‘It’s my job, which I will do, to push the owners. If we want to be successful, if we want to develop as a team and a club, we need to make sure we make the right decisions this offseason. It’s going to be a lot of work, but it needs it.’
