Beauty and the big day: Insta-perfect make up

Like most of us, Charlotte Tilbury is gripped by royal wedding fever. The A-listers’ favourite make-up artist, who helped Amal Clooney dazzle when she married George, has created a new range inspired by smartphone beautifying filters and designed to make us look great in pictures.

‘I always say, you can’t have a beautiful painting without a beautiful canvas,’ says Charlotte, which is why everyone from Salma Hayek to Ruth Wilson wore her longtime fave Hollywood Flawless Filter (£30) at the Baftas. Either apply it as a primer before your base or mix the two together.

For the kind of dewy, cloud-like flush that’s achievable on Instagram, make her new Pretty Youth Glow Filter palette in Pretty Fresh (£30, from 31 May) your go-to. Using a brush, swirl the blush and highlighter shades together, then sweep over cheekbones and the ‘blurring technology’ will create a natural radiance.

The four shades in just-out Bigger Brighter Eyes palette in Exagger-Eyes (£39) act as a step-by-step guide to priming, enlarging, defining and adding sparkle to lids, which looks great in photos.

‘As for lips, to modernise your bridal look, opt for a matt texture lipstick,’ advises Charlotte. Pick Matte Revolution Lipstick in Amazing Grace (£24) – a demure coral. Finally, Charlotte says, set with a dusting of loose powder over your forehead, nose and chin. Then smile, knowing your make-up will do the rest.

New skin-perfecting tanning brand Isle of Paradise is built on a philosophy of body positivity. It offers three colour-correcting Self-Tanning Mousses (£19.95, boots.com) to flatter your skin tone. Choose from shades in pale Peach to illuminate lacklustre skin, Green to calm and counteract redness or Violet to whisk away sallowness for a tan that ranges from subtle to golden and bronze respectively.

Boots brand No7 is well known for affordable, results-driven skincare so effective that waiting lists, 5am queues and instant sellouts are the norm. Now the brand has done it again. When it launched Laboratories Line Correcting Booster Serum (£38, boots.com) last month, one tube was bought every two seconds.

After trialling the product and its anti-wrinkle peptide technology, 77 per cent of women said the serum gave them better results than they thought possible from skincare; 73 per cent said they were less likely to consider Botox in future. Having tested it for two weeks, I have to say that I agree.

This week we’re… double cleansing with our reusable CloudCloth (£8 for three, cloudcloth.co.uk). One side feels soft and cloud-like as you remove your make-up, the other gently exfoliates away dead cells to help maintain your lovely summer skin.
