Beauty buzz: High flyers
Say goodbye to jet-lag woes with the latest travel heroes
Jessica Alba arrives at the Los Angeles International Airport
Can we talk about jet-lag face? Mine is a curious combination of puffy, dry and patchy. So the recent furore over new celebrity favourite Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask (£42, cultbeauty.co.uk) spurred me on to up my in-flight game. On a recent long-haul flight I applied a thin layer of the mask and, incredibly, when I touched down eight hours later, I was left with a perky, dewy glow. No wonder Kim Kardashian West and Jessica Alba rely on it.

Reapplying a full face of make-up before heading into the sun feels odd. But Colorescience Mattifying Perfector Face Primer SPF20 (£35, colorescienceuk.com) is the ideal compromise. Not only does this primer keep sweaty shine at bay, it also smooths skin with an unusual cloud-like texture, contains a subtle tint so you don’t feel naked – and even adds sun protection into the mix.

See-through airport cosmetics bags are not exactly roomy, so keep make-up to a minimum with Nars Orgasm Afterglow Lip Balm (£22, narscosmetics.co.uk). New for summer, it works brilliantly on both lips and cheeks and leaves a fresh, translucent warmth that’s just right for hotter climes. Glossier Lash Slick Mascara (£14, glossier.com), which launched a couple of months ago, comes into its own in high summer. Unlike a full-on, lash-thickening mascara that will only dry, flake and smear in the heat, this coats lashes in a subtle black tint that stays put long after you hit arrivals.
The Lost Explorer Rehydrating Mist Hydrosol
Made with travellers in mind, The Lost Explorer Rehydrating Mist Hydrosol (£43, libertylondon.com) contains rose water, aloe vera and coconut. It hydrates, cools, smells divine – and keeps that jet-lag face at bay.
When it comes to feeling and smelling fresh, armpits often get a raw deal. Upgrade from your usual aerosol and try Modern Botany 100% Natural Deodorant (£25, contentbeautywellbeing.com), which is laced with witch hazel, sandalwood and lemon tea tree. Or pick from Jo Loves Grapefruit, Tuberose, Fig or Vetiver Graffiti Art Fragrance Body Spray (£40 each, joloves.com). Lighter than perfume, I spray mine on my body, hair and clothes to keep everything smelling sweet and in sync.

This week we’re… mixing and matching our hair masks with Hask travel-and-budget-friendly treatment sachets. Choose from colour-protecting Kalahari Melon Oil, smoothing Keratin Protein and repairing Moroccan Argan Oil (£2.49 each, superdrug.com), depending how your hair feels on any given day.
