BEAUTY: My fab four – all under £10

Upgrading your make-up bag doesn’t have to break the bank

Collection Eyes Uncovered Eyeshadow Palette in Just Nude, Maybelline Tattoo Liner Liquid Ink, The Inkey List Brighten-i Eye Cream, L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Foundation

Since price tags in the beauty world so often start at £40 then hurtle on upwards, this week I thought I’d be price conscious and focus on my four favourite new launches that are all under £10.

First is the Collection Eyes Uncovered Eyeshadow Palette in Just Nude (£4.99, superdrug.com). I don’t tend to wear a lot of eye make-up and, if I do, it’s usually something along natural lines, so this palette is very much up my street. All eight shades are easy to wear and blend together, with none being too shimmery, which is quite rare in cheaper ranges. It isn’t the longest-lasting shadow I’ve ever come across, but it will certainly get you through the day.

I’m very impressed by Maybelline Tattoo Liner Liquid Ink (£9.99, boots.com). It’s highly pigmented and easy to apply with the applicator, which is firm enough to get into the lash line. It’s also smudge- and sweat-resistant and we found it lasted well, even when we tested it during the middle of a heatwave.

Next, I’m enjoying using The Inkey List Brighten-i Eye Cream (£8.99, cultbeauty.co.uk). It hydrates, the metal applicator cools and gives good lymphatic drainage, while the peachy tint helps to prime skin for concealer and generally brighten the eye area.

My final pick, L’Oréal Paris True Match Super-Blendable Foundation (£9.99, boots.com), is a reformulation rather than an entirely new launch. It does now contain glycerine, so be warned if that’s an issue for you, but it also has hyaluronic acid and aloe vera for extra moisturisation. It’s available in 40 shades and gives good cover that lasts.
