Beauty Therapy: Need to fake some beauty sleep? 

There comes a time when a party beauty routine is as much about the morning after – and how not to look as though you’ve been up till the small hours – as it is about glamming up. That’s when it’s time for what modern parlance would call ‘beauty sleep hacks’ – how to cheat the look of a good night’s sleep. 

Of course, there’s always the classic Clarins Beauty Flash Balm (£32, clarins.co.uk) to restore freshness to the complexion. Amid a sea of constant newness, this trusty tube should never be forgotten. Another of my long-standing stalwarts is Elemis Cellular Recovery Skin Bliss Capsules (£69.50 for 60, elemis.com). While not the cheapest option, you don’t have to use these every day – just when you’re looking a bit washed out. They contain moringa oil, a powerful antioxidant, and if you can manage to cleanse before bedtime and apply the contents of a capsule to your face, you’ll also benefit from its dash of lavender oil to help you to decompress. I use these as and when needed and I always wake up looking far better for it.

A new kid on the block that I swear by is Sanctuary Spa 1 Minute Daily Glow Mask (£14, feelunique.com). Since reworking its range, this brand has been coming up with one great product after another, earning a respected place in my bathroom. This one delivers speedy results, which is good for mornings when we’d all rather hit the snooze button than face a full-on skincare routine. Simply apply a layer of this vitamin-C-charged goop to your face, activate it with a few drops of water, leave on for a minute, then wipe it off. It really does leave skin looking brighter and less weary looking.

I’d like to sing the praises of yet another old favourite this week: Lancôme’s Hypnôse mascara (£25, lancome.co.uk). I always return to this if I want to add volume to my lashes, and, better still, it won’t clump. Still a top lash player.
