Ben Fordham has revealed how being hypnotised helped him lose 10kg in six months.

The 42-year-old spoke to Lawrence Mooney on Triple M’s Moonman in the Morning show on Friday, saying he was hypnotised to stop eating chocolate and to stop drinking beer.

Ben started his weight loss journey at 97kg, and described on the radio show how ‘unbelievably’ good his hypnotist is.

‘I’ve seen you on the tele (sic) lately and obviously you’ve lost a bit of the wine bloat around the face, what are you doing?’ Lawrence asked.

‘Well, I’ve moved the booze from every day of the week to one day of the week, that was a big one,’ Ben said, before revealing the method he used to do achieve it.

‘Believe it or not, Moonman, I met a hypnotherapist who told me he could hypnotise me into not eating chocolate, ice cream, lollies and drinking as much wine and beer as I was previously,’ he said.

When the morning show panel asked what the hypnotist’s phone number was, Ben replied, ‘He did it! I can give you his number mate, he’s unbelievable.’

Ben said that he’s stopped drinking beer, and instead opts for vodka if he’s keen for a tipple.

‘Apart from on the day Bob Hawke died, I sculled two that night, but other than that, no beer – lots of vodka, lots of tequila.’

He added: ‘My brother calls them the NRLs. I ordered a vodka lime and soda one night with my brother and he goes, “You’re on the NRLs?”‘

He concluded by saying his brother explained to him all the league players regularly drank vodka, lime and soda so they don’t stack on the kilos.

Ben began his fitness overhaul about six months ago because he said he thought he was ‘too unfit’ and ‘too heavy’.

‘I’ve lost about 10 kilograms so far. I was 97kg,’ Ben told news.com.au in March.

The radio and TV presenter said while he was never really overweight, he wasn’t particularly fit either, which made it ‘way too easy’ to continue living the way he was.

Once he made the commitment to get in shape, Ben shook up both his diet and fitness region, which he believes has set a great example for his kids.

Ben appeared on Triple M on Friday ahead of his next season as host of Ninja Warriors, which returns on Monday July 8 at 7.30pm on Channel Nine.
