Many elderly people have been forced to self-isolate during the COVID-19 pandemic as they are more vulnerable to the disease.  

On Sunday, Ben Fordham shared a picture to Instagram of his children social distancing from their grandmother to protect her from potentially being infected. 

In the cute-but-heartbreaking snap, two of Ben’s children – Freddy, five, and Pearl, three – blew kisses to their grandmother as they ate lunch on a seperate table.

Meanwhile, Ben’s mother smiled while she sat on a chair on the verandah, a safe distance away from the two youngsters. 

The TV presenter, 43, recently appeared in a Channel Nine campaign called ‘Slow the spread’, which advocated for social distancing to stop the spread of coronavirus.

‘I know as Australians we tend to think, “Oh mate, she’ll be right. We can just kind of do it our own way” but it’s just not the time for that,’ Ben said in the clip.  

The clip also featured Channel Nine entertainment reporter Richard Wilkins, who recently tested positive for coronavirus. 

Ben shares three children Freddy, Pearl and six-month-old baby Marigold with Channel Seven presenter Jodie Speers.

Ben and Jodie welcomed their third child in September last year, saying they were ‘head over heels in love’.

Meanwhile, the deadly coronavirus continues to escalate in Australia. 

As of Sunday evening, there have been 3,929 cases of coronavirus, which have resulted in 16 deaths.
