Ben Foster has revealed being kissed by Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney after his stunning penalty save against Notts County on Monday.

With the Welsh side winning against their National League title rivals in the seventh minute of injury time, Foster, who came out of retirement to return to the club who took him in loan as a youngster, pulled off a spectacular diving save to keep his side ahead.

The home side held on for the win, which has put them three points clear of second placed Notts with five games left to play.

‘Rob kissed me fully on the lips and Ryan called me a double handsome b*****d,’ he said after the game. ‘I’ll take that.’

‘They’re so happy, if you could order an absolute bob on, top of the class, top of the range owner, then you would just package them two up because they are as good as it gets.

‘It means so much to them, they care so much, they do it properly. I’ve been here for what three weeks now and it’s ran so professionally you would not believe. It is ridiculous how they run it, so fair play to them they deserve all they get.’

Reynolds added: ‘When I get my hands on Ben Foster he’s going to be on the injured reserve list. I’m going to break ribs I’m going to hug him so hard.’

Both owners were in attendance and seemed stunned after the win, with McElhenney tweeting ‘that’s why you go get Ben Foster’ and that he ‘can’t believe I once found football boring.
