Ben Foster has revealed the special conditions Wrexham owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney agreed to for him to stay at the club for another year.
The Hollywood pair had been eager to see the 40-year-old shot-stopper sign fresh terms at the Racecourse Ground after his impact in the final eight games of last season.
After weeks of deliberation, Foster, who will play in Soccer Aid on Sunday, agreed to a new deal earlier this week and will look to solidify himself as Wrexham’s No 1 for their first season back in League Two.
He has revealed flexibility was one of his big demands when negotiating with the club, saying he only trained three times a week at the back end of the season.
‘They’d have to be flexible with me with sort of days off basically. Like I said earlier I live a couple hours away from Wrexham,’ he said speaking on The Fellas Podcast.

‘So if I’m driving to training then that’s two hours and then I’ll train, and then to get home you’ve got to get through M6 through birmingham, take you three hours sometimes.
‘In the six weeks I did the club were so good with me. They were so flexible. They gave me sort of extra days off.
‘We would play on a Saturday, they’d give me Sunday and Monday off. I’d train on Tuesday, we’d all have a day off on Wednesday anyway. i’d only be training really three days.’
Foster arrived following an injury to No 1 Rob Lainton and produced a series of match-winning displays – including a 97th-minute penalty save against promotion rivals Notts County – that helped seal the National League title.
He had been hinting that a new deal was in the offing but the former Manchester United, Watford, Birmingham and West Brom startook any doubts away be extending his stay.
Deadpool star Reynolds and Foster have struck up a close bond and the goalkeeper recently revealed a special gift given to him by the Canadian megastar.
Reynolds went viral after Wrexham sealed promotion with a 3-1 win over Boreham Wood when he marched into the press room and demanded Foster’s match-worn shirt – something that had actually been pre-agreed.
Now Foster has revealed on his Fozcast podcast the gift heading the other way from the US.
‘This is incredible right so, Ryan Reynolds text me the day of the [Boreham Wood] game to say, “can I have your shirt?”,’ Foster said.
‘I was like “yeah cool” and he was like “cool, because I’ve got something for you as well”.
‘I was like “what on earth’s this?” So anyway he texted me yesterday and said “I forgot to tell you what it is”.
‘He says, “I was going through my memorabilia the other day of Deadpool and I found the original gloves that I wore in the film”.’
