Ben Shephard finally resurfaced in Germany after he awkwardly missed an appearance on Good Morning Britain on Monday morning.

The This Morning presenter, 49, watched England in the Euros 2024 final against Spain in Berlin the night prior with good pal Chris Kamara.

After a late night, despite the Three Lions losing 2-1, Ben ended up sleeping through his scheduled virtual reunion with former co-star Kate Garraway on GMB.

Kate and co-host Richard Madeley had told ITV viewers earlier that morning that Ben would be making a return to the show.

Yet former England boss Sam Allardyce, 69, and ex England player John Terry, 43, managed to appear via video links from their respective homes in Bolton and Surrey, but Ben was nowhere to be seen.

Before giving viewers a debrief of England’s defeat, Kate took a cheeky dig at her pal Ben, she said: ‘We were also supposed to have Ben Shephard but it seems he is taking his own personal bank holiday.

‘He has not got up so far this morning, we will see if we can wake him up.’

She then joked to Sam and John: ‘Feel free to lampoon him both of him while you talk. I know you know him very well.’

However, this afternoon Ben revealed he was safe and well as he shared an Instagram selfie with Chris and Rylan Clark.

Ben bid farewell to GMB after a decade of hosting with longtime friend Kate in order to join Cat Deeley as the new permanent hosts of This Morning in February.

Ben and Cat are currently enjoying a seven-week break from This Morning just four months after landing the job.

The new hosts joined the ITV daytime show on March 11 and are said to be receiving  an annual salary of £555,000.

Now they’re set to be away for nearly two months as part of the show’s annual summer break, which sees a rotation of guest presenters brought in to front the show in their absence.

Prince William and Prince George were also stunned as the Three Lions lost 2-1 to Spain

Friday favourites Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary will kick off the summer shows from Monday July 15, before a mix of familiar faces return to the sofa.

Also stepping in to host will be Josie Gibson, Craig Doyle, Rylan Clark, Rochelle Humes and Joel Dommett, plus new mum Sian Welby also making her return to broadcasting since welcoming her baby daughter Ruby last month.

Ben and Cat return to ITV’s flagship daytime show on September 2, and Alison and Dermot return to fronting Fridays on September 6.

Millions of fans had packed into bars and pubs in hope of seeing England finally claim their first victory since the World Cup of 1966.

And super sub Cole Palmer had given the nation belief when he struck a brilliant equaliser in the 73rd-minute, after his team had gone behind at the start of the second half.

It sent boozers into wild celebrations, with beers launched into the air as fans sung ‘it’s coming come’ – while in Berlin’s Olympiastadion, Prince William and his son, Prince George, punched the air in delight.

But the hopes and expectations of a nation came crashing down minutes later when Spain’s Mikel Oyarzabal slotted the winning goal past Jordan Pickford in the 86th-minute.
