She wrote: ‘WARNING: watch out for drink spiking. My daughter was drugged at a nightclub. She was with Bernard Tomic, his mate did it.’

Tomic’s ex-girlfriend’s sister, Laura Blake-Hahnel, commented on the post saying ‘OMG I am mortified’.

Talking about the night her daughter’s drink was allegedly spiked, Mrs McCarthy told The Courier-Mail: ‘She was virtually paralysed and spent the night in hospital.’

‘She was very sick. She is really shaken but OK. The police are taking it very seriously.’

There is no suggestion 25-year-old Tomic was involved.

A spokesman for the club said CCTV footage showed no sign of Ms McCarthy’s drink being spiked but that staff were helping police with their inquiries.

He said: ‘We’re aware of the alleged incident and are very concerned by the seriousness of it.

‘Since Sunday, staff have thoroughly reviewed the CCTV footage which tracks the patron (Ms McCarthy) throughout the night.

‘Our review of her movements revealed no indication of drink-spiking by any third party in the venue.’

Queensland Police told Daily Mail Australia: ‘Police have received a complaint of an alleged drink spiking incident at Surfers Paradise on March 4, 2018. The matter is under investigation.

‘The Queensland Police Service does not identify individuals and will not be releasing any further information as the matter is ongoing.’

Tomic, who was once world number 17 and reached the Wimbledon quarter finals in 2011, has been tarnished by several controversies throughout his career.

He infamously lashed out after crashing out of the Australian Open in the first round.

‘I just count money, that’s all I do. I count my millions,’ he sarcastically told reporters.

‘You go do what I did (on court). Bye bye.’

Tomic – now ranked 143 with around US$5million in prize money – recently left I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here after only three days in the South African jungle.

He claimed he ‘would have been in the top three in the world’ if he played ten years earlier and said he suffered a ‘professional burnout’.
