  • New list reveals items people over the age of 40 should throw out immediately

They say if you want to look young, dress younger.

But a new list has revealed the items people over the age of 40 should throw out immediately – and you’ll be surprise at how many things you’re guilty of still owning.

The tongue-in-cheek list compiled by Best Life suggested women should get rid of sparkly eye makeup, ugg boots, harem pants, ‘sequined anything’ and hotel slippers.

For middle-aged men, it’s novelty ties, a ‘lucky’ piece of clothing, Velcro wallets, hoodies, tracksuits, baseball caps, and a key chain bottle opener.

However the panel on Australian breakfast program the Today show didn’t seem to agree with the list of banned items for men and women.

‘I really object to this, I mean I don’t know whether I’m recently 42 but sometimes I do look at the things I have, and think “alright, maybe I didn’t picture myself still having that at 40 like some of the clothes”. But guess what? I want this right now, I want to wear this right now,’ Ben  Fordham said, revealing he’s been using a Velcro wallet for the last five years.

Today co-host Sonia Kruger said she when appeared on The Voice, she would get remarks from online trolls telling her to ‘dress age appropriately’.

’99 per cent of people are so nice, they’ve written really love things, but one or two people have written “Sonia, you’re not 18 anymore, what are you doing?” But I get really confused about the concept of things,’ she said.
