‘Big Bad Wolf’ paedophile who abused 276 children in a year is jailed for life in Colombia

A Colombian paedophile who abused hundreds of children in a year and sold footage of the abuse online has been jailed for life.
Juan Carlos Sanchez Latorre was dubbed the ‘Big Bad Wolf’ as it was the alias he used online to share images and videos of abuse.
The 37-year-old had been on the run for five years until was arrested in Venezuela with a fake identity card a year ago.
Sanchez Latorre was extradited back to Colombia to face trial where he pleaded guilty to sexually abusing 276 boys and girls, all 14 years old or under.

The period of abuse took place over 12 months between 2007 and 2008, Colombian prosecutors stated.
Prosecutors also said he approached his victims online and met them at shopping centres, offering them money and sweets in exchange for sex, before abusing them at his home.
Sanchez Latorre raped his victims then photographed and recorded them to sell the images online outside Colombia, newspaper El Heraldo, which is based in the city of Barranquilla, reports.
The Colombian Prosecutor’s Office said in a statement that ‘the attacks were photographed or recorded on video and the material shared on social networks on the Internet with users from other countries’.
The authorities’ confirmed that the ages of the abused children ranged from eight to 14 years old, with one of his later victims being a 14-month-old baby, according to local media.

Sanchez Latorre, who used the name ‘Lobo Feroz’ online, went on the run for five years before pleading guilty to abusing hundreds of children
He went by the name ‘Lobo Feroz’ online – a fictional character in several of Aesop’s Fables and Grimms’ Fairy Tales.
Sanchez Latorre was also being hunted by Interpol for sharing around 1,450 indecent photographs of children.
Sanchez Latorre was sentenced to 60 years in prison at a court in the city of Barranquilla, the Colombian Prosecutor’s Office said on Twitter yesterday.
Prosecutors described his crimes as, ‘several of the most gruesome cases against children…that have been known in the last decade in the country’.
The authorities believe Sanchez Latorre committed other crimes in Venezuela before being finally arrested in the city of Maracaibo and extradited.
His neighbours said they had never suspected he was a dangerous paedophile, BBC Mundo reports.
