Bilingurr, Broome: Man allegedly sexually assaults female jogger

Strange man grabs female jogger and sexually assaults her in the bush before she fights him off and brave witnesses come running to her aid

  • Woman aged in her 40s was jogging along a track at around 5am on Friday
  • Man coming other way allegedly grabbed her and sexually assaulted her
  • The woman was able to fight the man off and was taken to a local hospital

A jogger bravely fought off a stranger who allegedly sexually assaulted her in bushland during her Friday morning jog.

Western Australian Police are searching for a man who allegedly attacked the woman in her 40s in Bilingurr, in Broome’s northern suburbs, about 5.20am on Friday. 

The woman was jogging along a track when the man allegedly grabbed her – and then assaulted her – as they crossed paths.

The woman fought the man off and screamed for help. 

Several members of the local community came to the woman’s aid and she was taken to Broome Hospital by ambulance.

The alleged incident happened in an area of bushland alongside Gubinge Road, between Jigal Drive and Sayonara Road. 

The alleged offender is described as being between 35 and 45 years old.

Detectives from Western Australia’s Sex Assault Squad are travelling to Broome to assist local police officers with the investigation.
