Billionaire Zara founder’s daughter Marta Ortega ties the knot in glamorous ceremony

The daughter of Zara’s billionaire founder Amancio Ortega has tied the knot today in a glamorous ceremony in Spain.

Marta Ortega, 34, wowed in a fashion-forward dress by Valentino as she married partner Carlos Torretta, 35, the son of a fashion designer, at an intimate ceremony at her family home in Galicia, north-west Spain.

The Zara heiress opted for a high-neck dress with puff sleeves and a bow around the waist, which she teamed with a full-length veil and flower crown.

The bride and groom are hosting a cocktail party at the Royal Yacht Club in A Coruna, where Ortega hails from, with a lavish wedding party set to follow on Saturday.

Glamorous guests expected at the wedding include Bruce Springsteen’s daughter Jessica and heiress Athina Onassis.

Meanwhile model agent Carlos, the son of Spanish fashion designer Roberto Torretta, has previous dated a string of beauties including Victoria’s Secret model Sigrid Agren and bestselling author Danielle’s Steel’s daughter Victoria Traina.

He returned to Spain at the start of last year after working in New York as a representative of models including Adriana Lima and Kim Kardashian’s half-sister Kendall Jenner.

Spanish newspapers have branded the nuptials between Marta – whose billionaire father is the fifth richest man in the world – as the ‘wedding of the year’

Around 400 guests are expected to attend Saturday’s party at the Casas Novas equestrian centre, twice as many as six years ago when Marta married her first husband.

Those invited include Spanish model and actor Jon Kortajarena and Eugenia Silva, whose husband Alfonso de Borbon is a cousin of the country’s King Felipe VI.

While male guests have been told to wear tuxedos, Marta’s father is expected to don a black suit made at one of the local factories of his retail empirer Inditex.

Marta’s mother is Ortega’s second wife Flora Perez, a member of staff he started an affair with while still married to his first wife Rosalia.

Marta was educated at a Swiss boarding school, before studying business management in London.

She trained as an assistant in Zara on Oxford Street where Kate Moss, who modelled there, reportedly rebuffed her friendly overtures.

Marta’s father, now 82, is a self-made man who left school at 13 and is currently ranked the fifth richest man in the world, just behind Facebook founder Mark Zuckerberg, with a fortune of nearly $70 billion (£55 billion).

He stood down as president of Inditex in 2011 but is still the majority shareholder with 60 per cent of the firm’s shares.

In October 2015 and September 2016 he was briefly named ahead of Bill Gates as the world’s wealthiest person by Forbes magazine.
