Billy Crudup drops out of long overdue The Flash movie ahead of season two of The Morning Show

Billy Crudup has been enjoying a hiatus amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

But the Emmy Award winner is ready to get back to work, as his schedule begins to fill up again.

He recently dropped out of his role in the long overdue The Flash movie, as he prepares to return to set for season two of his Apple TV+ series The Morning Show, which was delayed at the beginning of lockdown.

The movie premieres November 4, 2022, with production expected to begin this spring or summer in London, conflicting with The Morning Show, according to Variety.

Crudup stars alongside Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon in the drama about a morning news show that gets hit with a sexual misconduct scandal.

He won his first Emmy Award last year for his performance as executive Cory Ellison, who takes over the program in the wake of their controversy.

The Broadway veteran told The Guardian of his confident character: ‘Yeah, I don’t identify with that at all. I’m a mess. The older I get, the more I know I don’t know. 

‘And especially as a parent, that’s frightening because you want to feel protective of your child and give them the [idea] that you understand the world, and as you get older you feel less capable of doing that.’

With Crudup’s exit as Barry Allen’s dad, The Flash has found his mom Nora Allen in Spanish actress Maribel Verdú, known for Alfonso Cuarón’s Y Tu Mamá También and Guillermo del Toro’s Pan’s Labyrinth.

Although plot details are scarce, the superhero will have to save his mother in a time travel adventure across alternate dimensions, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Kiersey Clemons was officially cast as Barry’s love interest Iris West recently, after she was first tapped back in 2016, appearing in Zack Snyder’s Justice League. 

It comes after Sasha Calle signed on as Supergirl, and Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck were cast as multiverse versions of Batman.
