A five-year-old girl has gone missing after she was picked up in a blue sedan from Biloela, in remote Queensland.

Police believe the girl may be at significant risk after she was taken from Malakoff Street in the remote town sometime between 2.45pm and 3.15pm this afternoon.

The girl was picked up in a blue, 2004 Holden Commodore sedan with Queensland registration 035 XZQ.

The 24-year-old woman driver is not known to the child and police believe she could be headed in the direction of the Emerald or Mt Morgan areas. 

Police have called for urgent public help to find the girl and issued an Amber Alert.
