Steve Irwin’s granddaughter Grace Warrior is ‘captivated’ by videos of the late Crocodile Hunter, proud mum Bindi has revealed.

The precocious 13-month-old has watched several of Steve’s wildlife documentaries, and likes to ‘study’ his animated facial expressions.

Bindi, who welcomed Grace with husband Chandler Powell in March last year, told People magazine: We have so many documentaries of dad, and we’re always playing them for Grace.’

‘It’s so fun to watch her study him. I didn’t realise how much dad’s passion for life and his animated facial expressions – I mean, they captivate her,’ she added.

Bindi said her daughter had inherited Steve’s hyperactive personality, in particular his ‘determination and his inability to sit still’.

She continued: ‘I’m excited to see as she grows up how her personality will develop. If dad was around, honestly, we would never see her. He would be in love.’

Steve, known to millions around the world as ‘the Crocodile Hunter’, died on September 4, 2006, at the age of 44 after being pierced in the chest by a stingray while filming a documentary on the Great Barrier Reef.

Bindi was just eight years old at the time.

Following his death, Steve’s family, including his daughter Bindi, widow Terri, son Robert and son-in-law Chandler Powell, have continued his conservation work at Australia Zoo.

Bindi spoke about her father’s legacy during an interview in 2019.

‘He was the greatest wildlife warrior to have ever lived,’ she said, adding: ‘He dedicated his whole life to protecting wildlife and wild places.

‘And I think that it’s really special that in this day we can all remember that khaki [the colour of the Australia Zoo uniform] is not just a colour, it’s an attitude.

‘And to remember the greatest dad on the planet and a wonderful conservationist.’

Bindi and Chandler welcomed their daughter on March 25, 2021, which coincidentally was the couple’s first wedding anniversary.

He'd be proud! After his death, Steve's family, including his daughter Bindi, widow Terri, son Robert and son-in-law Chandler Powell, have continued his conservation work at Australia Zoo
