Bindi Irwin posts flashback picture of Chandler Powell

They are the wildlife lovers who grew up oceans apart, but were destined to meet through their mutual love for animals and conservation.

And on Tuesday, Bindi Irwin posted a heartfelt throwback photo of her American beau Chandler Powell, revealing the couple were connected years before they even met.

Taken to Instagram, the 19-year-old posted a picture of Chandler (now 21-years-old) as a child, holding a copy of her late father Steve Irwin’s The Crocodile Hunter Collision Course movie.

Showing the uncanny connection the two shared during their childhood years, Bindi wrote: ‘Chandler #Flashback… My sunshine with his copy of The Crocodile Hunter Collision Course movie.’

She continued: ‘Blessed to share my life with someone who is just as passionate about wildlife and conservation as we are, since he was so young!’ 

The sweethearts have gained a mass social media since getting together three years ago and Bindi’s sweet flashback picture proved just that by racking up over 42,000 likes within just three hours of posting it.

Fans were quick to comment and resonate with the emotional post, with one writing: ‘And your father was so very much loved by us all – whether we met him or watched him. His robust and enthusiastic personality is definitely missed.’

The two met during an Australia Zoo tour in 2013 and recently sparked rumours of an impending proposal after her Florida-born beau relocated to Queensland to be with her.

Since having Chandler move into her family’s famed 100-acre estate, Bindi told People magazine: ‘Since he relocated, we’re having a great time throwing Chandler into everything.’

Continuing to gush over her wildlife warrior beau, Bindi shared: ‘In the afternoon Robert [her brother] has been taking him out to feed the freshwater crocodiles and the gators.’
