Bizarre moment Sunrise star licks licorice off a conveyor belt at a confectionery factory – leaving his co-hosts disgusted and speechless

Sunrise weatherman Sam Mac is always up for a challenge.

But on Monday, the 40-year-old left his co-hosts speechless when he decided to lick licorice off a conveyor belt at the Darrell Lea factory.

Sam was hosting his weather segment from the confectionery factory in Sydney, and was showing viewers how the treat is made.

Darrell Lea employee Harry explained to viewers: ‘This is where it comes down and it goes out there where we start packing it.’

‘That’s the freshest licorice you can get. Try one of these and tell me yourself,’ Harry said, holding a piece of licorice towards Sam.

But the weatherman then knelt down and opened his mouth as the licorice fell of the conveyor belt.

‘I would really love to try it going straight in,’ Sam said, leaving his Sunrise co-hosts shocked.

‘No, isn’t that a health and safety issue?’ a stunned Natalie Barr yelled.

David Koch agreed, adding: ‘In Covid times you can’t do that!’

‘That was strategic guys, it means I get that box now,’ Sam awkwardly joked before continuing on with his segment.

A shocked Edwina Bartholomew then added: ‘Look at the manager in the red hair net has rushed over [to stop it]. That’s just ruined a whole batch.’

‘Look at the looks he is getting from all of them,’ David said.
