This is the battered and bruised face of an attempted murder suspect who shot a cop who was trying to arrest him, leading to a six-hour manhunt in Texas. 

Jeremy Cook, 39, is in custody and charged with attempted murder after he fired a single shot at Henderson County sheriff deputy Jonathan Hutchison, who was saved by his bullet proof vest.

Cook was finally arrested following a six-hour search after neighboring police departments and K-9 Units were called in to assist with the investigation.

Pictured Wednesday morning following his arrest, Cook’s face was visibly swollen, with cut marks above both eyes, bruising to his cheeks and dried blood around his nose.

The altercation began with a car chase shortly after 3am Wednesday, when Hutchison, on a police motorbike, attempted to pull Cook over for traffic violations.

Shots were reportedly exchanged after Cook wrecked the motorcycle near County Road 4117, KLTV reported.    

Cook was eventually apprehended at around 10am in wooded area near the Ironton Community in Cherokee County.    

He was transported to the Henderson County jail where he was charged with attempted capital murder of a police officer. Cook may face more charges, it was reported.

‘It included the bulk of his Office, DPS, surrounding Sheriff’s Offices and Police Departments, K-9’s, and a helicopter.

‘Jeremy Brian Cook, 39, was apprehended after a six-hour search that began after 3 a.m. and involved a pursuit of a motorcycle.

‘The vest saved this Deputy’s life,’ Hillhouse said.
