A man has been jailed after allegedly breaking into a family home in Oklahoma.

Franklin Markwardt was found on the front lawn of a house in Broken Arrow just outside of Tulsa, at around 1am on Sunday morning.

The homeowner went outside to check that the man was okay when Markwardt suddenly got up and chased the owner back inside.

Although the man was able to quickly shut the door behind him, Markwardt ended up breaking through and getting inside the home where he allegedly assaulted two people according to Fox 23, hitting a women in her back and head as well as a man on the arm.

The brother and sister ran upstairs and yelled for their younger brother to call 911.

The elder brother’s girlfriend also took their three-week-old daughter to hide in a closet but Markwardt chased them upstairs and attempted to get into the room where they were hiding according to KTUL.

The oldest brother looked for something to defend himself with and grabbed a nearby golf club which he then allegedly used to hit Markwardt in the head several times in a bid to stop the assault.

By the time police officers arrived at the house, they found the man holding the club, standing over Markwardt.

As officers approached the suspected intruder attempted to make a run for it.

Police fired a taser at him and he was arrested after a short struggle.

Markwardt faces charges of first-degree burglary, two counts of assault and battery, and resisting arrest.

‘If you break into someone’s house, you don’t know if they are armed with a golf club or a firearm, and this is Oklahoma, there is a lot of firearms,’ said Chris Walker, with the Broken Arrow Police Department to KFOR.
