Billionaire Michael Bloomberg is making a massive, last-minute push on behalf of Democrats in the mid-terms.
The former politician who has repeatedly changed his party affiliation put $5 million behind an ad buy urging the public to support Democrats on Tuesday.
‘Political violence tears at the heart of our democracy. And violence against a religious group, in a house of God, tears at the heart of our humanity,’ Bloomberg, who’s Jewish, said of a synagogue shooting. ‘At these moments of great national tragedy, we look to Washington to lead.’
His foray into the election added to speculation that he plans to oppose Trump in 2020.

The ad that has him talking direct to camera, as if he were a candidate, aired during ’60 Minutes’ on Sunday evening on CBS. It was set to run on CNN on MSNBC on Monday, according to a press release.
As a former mayor of New York City, he presents himself ‘as an American who is deeply concerned with the direction of our nation.’
‘We expect a plan. We expect to be called to a higher purpose. We expect to work together. I don’t hear that call coming from Washington these days. Do you?’ he asks.
Bloomberg takes aim at both sides in the ad, claiming that the ‘greatest threats’ to America today are from within the government.
‘Sadly, our greatest threats today can be found from within our borders, from a government that is constantly on the verge of shutting down over partisan bickering, that is accumulating record debt, and failing to address our most urgent problems,’ he says.
He ends the ad with a call to actions that says: ‘At this moment, we must send a signal to Republicans in Washington that they have failed to lead, failed to find solutions, and failed to bring us together. That’s why I’m voting Democratic.
‘America is the greatest nation on earth and for all our sakes we must start becoming the UNITED States of America once again.’
