Bluey fans go wild over show’s extremely divisive Aussie snack: ‘I’d like to report a crime’

Viewers of Bluey have lit up the internet after the hit show featured a twisted version of not one, but two iconic Aussie snacks.

In the minisode Butlers, the character of Bluey can be seen ordering up a sausage sandwich.

But the beloved blue heeler also insisted she wanted the BBQ mainstay served with ‘fairy bread’ with no ‘orange sprinkles’.

Fairy bread, which consists of white bread, butter and rainbow sprinkles, is widely known as a favourite with Australian kids.

However fans were not impressed with Bluey’s combination of the two dishes.

Posting to a Reddit thread, one user shared a photo of their own attempt at the culinary concoction and added the caption: ‘Anyone else experienced this 2 in 1?’

‘Triple zero? Hello? I’d like to report a crime,’ joked one user.

Many others called out the poster’s choice of using multigrain bread over traditional white bread for their own effort.

‘I think the real abomination here is what appears to be multigrain bread which has no place in either fairy bread or sausage sizzle,’ one Bluey fan complained.

Another joked: ‘On multigrain? You heathen.’

‘Who hurt you?’ another asked.

This commenter simply and fairly wanted to know, ‘Do you hate Australia?’

One feared for what was to come next, ‘Is nothing sacred? What’s next, Vegemite Pavlova??’

While another said, ‘Go to your room. We’re not even angry, but we are very, very disappointed.’

The children’s animated series has been riding high in the top ten shows streamed in the US for a massive 112 weeks.

The figures were compiled earlier this month by the Nielsen ratings, which tracks viewership in the US, according to the Comicbook website.

According to Nielsen’s survey, Bluey has been in the top ten shows streaming in the US since October 2022.

Bluey is broadcast in more than 60 countries, with all three seasons of the Emmy-award-winning cartoon available on ABC iview in Australia, Disney+ in the U.S. and select episodes on BBC iPlayer in the U.K.

Last month, BBC Studios and The Walt Disney Company announced they are bringing Bluey’s first-ever animated feature film to the big screen, which will be written and directed by the show’s creator Joe Brumm.

‘I really enjoyed the experience of working with a longer format on The Sign in Series 3, so going even further with a feature film feels like a natural extension of that,’ Brumm said.

‘I’ve always thought Bluey deserved a theatrical movie. I want this to be an experiential event for the whole family to enjoy together.’
