It’s one of the biggest Australian TV exports ever.

And now Bluey could be soon making its big screen debut.

One of the stars of the ABC hit children’s series has teased that a movie version of the animated show is under way, reported New Idea on Monday.

Bluey follows the adventures of a loveable six-year-old Blue Heeler dog along with her family, which includes her mum, dad and younger sister.

‘I do think it’s time for a Bluey movie,’ star Melanie Zanetti told the publication.

‘I would be 1000% percent be open to doing that,’ the actress, who plays Bluey’s mum, Chilli.

‘The show is just very universal in the way that it follows a family. I’ve spent a lot of time in the US and they all have the same reception to the show.’ she continued.

‘So many people tell me that it’s like watching a little bit of Australia move by in a little window, which is so lovely.’

The outlet also reported the movie could ‘expect’ to ‘attract a line-up of megastar voice cameos.

Bluey counts Hollywood and recording stars like Ryan Gosling, Natalie Portman, Eva Mendes and Billy Joel among its high profile fans.

It comes after the team behind the family favourite reassured fans on last month that the series will return for a fourth season.

Executive producer Daley Pearson said the beloved show is currently in top form so the creative team behind it wanted to continue producing high quality episodes.

‘We have all agreed we wouldn’t keep making it if wasn’t as good as the one that came before, so we want to make sure we keep doing that,’ Pearson told The Courier Mail.

‘There will definitely be more Bluey. The amount of families who have taken Bluey in is a privilege that we don’t, and have never, taken that lightly.’
