Dramatic photos showed blood on and next to the frame of the rear door of the car as it lay upside down with its lights still flashing.

LA Police Department Sergeant Benjamin Zucker told KTLA 5 News: ‘It was either backing and came straight down, or it was going forward and then flipped onto its roof.’

The BMW driver was later taken to nearby Cedars-Sinai Medical Center with minor injuries, and remarkably, the driver of the Nissan – along with her two dogs – was unhurt.

It is unclear how the car was able to go through both the concrete barrier and cables but both have already been repaired.

Witness Retu Rashid told NBC Los Angeles: ‘I saw it! It was like the movies — a car flying through the air.’
