Bizarre footage has emerged of a BMW dangerously stacked on top of a car shell while being towed along an busy expressway.

Kayla McLeod was driving along the Port River Expressway in Adelaide’s northern suburbs when she spotted a Toyota Kluger towing a heavy but peculiar load.

The trailer was loaded with the wreckage of a 3-series BMW sedan precariously stacked on the shell of a Toyota LandCruiser four-wheel drive.

Bizarre footage has emerged of a BMW dangerously stacked on top of a car shell while being towed along an busy expressway 

Baffled drivers watched as the motorist sped past them on the expressway with little regard for the dangerous cargo being hauled.

Ms McLeod posted the 30 second clip on Instagram  on Wednesday which attracted several hundred views when it was later uploaded on YouTube. 

‘The car rocked back and forth as the driver went over the slightest of bumps,’ she told Storyful. 

South Australia Police are aware of the footage and are investigating. 

According to South Australian road rules, it’s illegal to drive with a load on a vehicle or trailer that is not properly secured, causes the trailer to be unstable, or projects in a way that could be dangerous or cause an obstruction.

Loads on vehicles, including trailers, must not project more than 1.2metres over the front of the vehicle or 150mm either side.
