Former Prime Minister Bob Hawke was rushed to Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney on Monday night.
After being admitted to hospital, his wife Blanche d’Alpuget said he was doing ‘okay.’
Initial reports were unclear as to why the former prime minister of Australia had been admitted to hospital.

Mr Hawke was the 23rd prime minister of Australia.
He served from 1983 until 1991, leading the Australian Labor Party to four consecutive electoral victories.
His major achievements in office include the creation of Medicare, the formation of APEC, and the initiation of national super, Nine News reported.
Mr Hawke once held the world record for the fastest drinking of beer, drinking 1.4 litres in just 11 seconds.
In addition to formerly holding the record for the fastest drinking of beer, he also launched his own range of Australian beer company called Hawke’s Brewing Co.
Mr Hawke celebrated his 88th birthday in December last year.
