Astounding experience: The former Olympic ski racer delivered his twin boys with the help of his mom, who used to work as a midwife
When speaking to Today, the mom said the baby boys were yet to have a name.
‘I’m doing really well. We’re still floating from the whole experience,’ Morgan told the publication. ‘It was just so amazing to have it go as spontaneous but as well as it did.’
The birth was a more dramatic one than the couple expected because the midwife did not arrive to their home in time to help deliver the babies.
Instead, Bode and his mother, who previously worked as a midwife, delivered the twins together.
He called it ‘one of the more crazy things I’ve ever experienced.’
‘By the time they got there, me and my mom were holding the babies,’ the former Olympic skier said. ‘Luckily my mom was a midwife, but she hadn’t delivered babies in 20-plus years, and she never delivered twins. We were both pretty relaxed and pretty casual, but we were certainly not qualified to be doing an unassisted home delivery of twins.’
Morgan described the birth as ‘pure magic’ given her husband was able to deliver the twin boys with the help of his mom.
The twins come after Morgan appeared to be going stir-crazy with the pregnancy.
She shared multiple pictures on Instagram the last couple of weeks to give followers bump updates of the pregnancy. One image from 38 weeks showed Morgan sitting on the couch showing off her growing bump while another was a mirror selfie at 36 weeks.
Shocking moment: The delivery happened because the family’s midwife did not show up in time to assist with the birth. This left it to Bode and his mom to deliver them
Bundles of joy: The babies have yet to be named but are identical twin boys
At the time of the mirror selfie, she tagged the picture with a hashtag stating ‘I’m going crazy’, hinting the mom is ready to welcome her new twins to the world sooner rather than later.
But the twins refused to budge and were instead comfortable staying in their mother for a little bit longer. At the time, the twins were due on November 11 but gifted their mother with an early birth by coming on November 8.
In the picture shared during the 36-week bump update was Morgan’s phone case, which showed a picture of her daughter Emeline Grier who died by drowning tragically last year.
The couple announced they were pregnant with twins in August on both Instagram and when appearing on the Today show.
In August, Morgan described the babies as a ‘miracle’ pregnancy, one that she believed her daughter Emeline, who they also call Emmy, had ‘her hand’ in.
‘From the day I met my husband, he has always said he wanted identical twin boys born on his birthday,’ Morgan wrote on Instagram while sharing several images of her four children posing with balloons spelling out the word ‘twins’.
‘We are due on the lucky day/angel number of 11/11 which is not far off from @millerbode birthday of 10/12. From the beginning of this pregnancy, we knew Emmy had her hands in this miracle somehow.’
