Body is found in a dry river bed as search for woman, 44, who has been missing for almost three weeks ends in tragedy

A body has been found following an extensive search for a woman who has been missing for almost three weeks.

Authorities found the body in a dry creek bed in Slacks Creek, south of Brisbane on Monday while searching for 44-year-old Simone Rothe. 

Ms Rothe was last seen carrying a shopping bag near a Brisbane home on Westmoreland Boulevard on July 11.

Friends and family had not heard from her since her disappearance. 

‘Indications at this point are is that it is likely to be the missing person, however we won’t know that until such time as a post mortem has been conducted,’ Logan District Detective Inspector Tod Reid said.

A crime scene has been set up near where the body was found and investigations are underway.

Insp Reid said at this stage it is not clear how the woman died.
