Body found in search for missing Damien Roadley in Nimbin

A body has been found in the search for a bushwalker who made a frantic call to his family before going missing for 10 days

  • Damien Roadley, 38, went missing in NSW bushland more ten days ago 
  • The 38-year-old last was on an overnight camping trip at Blue Knob Mountain
  • He called his family concerned about an out-of-control fire before he vanished
  • A large-scale search found a body believed to be that of Mr Roadley in the bush 

A body has been found in the large-scale search for a  bushwalker who made a frantic call to his family ten days ago.

Damien Roadley last contacted his family from his mobile phone during an overnight trip atop Blue Knob Mountain in northern New South Wales on August 1. 

The body which was found in the dense bushland is yet to be identified but is believed to be that of Mr Roadley.

Police said the 38-year-old made a frantic phone call to his family and was not heard from since. 

When he phoned his family he was concerned about an out-of-control bush fire, the police said. 

He was reported missing when didn’t return home the following day. 

Emergency services including the police dog squad, Westpac Helicopter, SES and the Volunteer Rescue Association were involved in the search.

The Volunteer Rescue Association told AAP they were focusing on areas near cliff faces and that it is ‘dense and ragged bushland’. 

Two-days in to the search, emergency services found his camping equipment and food. 

Mr Roadley was wearing a grey t-shirt, green hoodie, a pair of jeans and hiking boots when he disappeared.
