Body language expert on Karl and Georgie’s ‘Today show tensions’

Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner’s every move has been analysed this week following the Ubergate scandal, with experts searching for clues as to how they really feel about each other.

And a leading body language authority has now claimed the Today hosts are trying to disguise their behind-the-scenes tensions by ‘putting on a professional face’.

Louise Mahler told The Daily Telegraph on Friday that Karl and Georgie appear ‘strained’ on-air, suggesting a frosty atmosphere in the corridors of Channel Nine.

Body language expert Louise Mahler claims Today hosts Karl Stefanovic and Georgie Gardner are trying to disguise their behind-the-scenes tensions by ‘putting on a professional face’

‘They’re putting on a professional face,’ said communication specialist Louise, who also observed the pair did not look ‘relaxed’ and appeared ‘very stilted’ on-camera.

‘There’s absolutely no eye contact between them. She tends to slightly lean away from him. And as he started to speak, she even moved her body away from him.’

Louise even suggested that Georgie, 46, appeared to ‘flinch’ at times, comparing the movement to how a person might react to smelling bad breath.

She also noted that the breakfast show co-anchors were ‘operating as as two separate individuals… not as a team’ and were speaking slowly and with ‘low energy’.

Daily Mail Australia has contacted Channel Nine for comment.

Tensions between the presenters surfaced on Monday when Georgie called Karl, 43, ‘pathetic’ during a light-hearted segment about dachshunds.

It was clear to Today show viewers that she wasn’t simply referring to Karl’s ‘fear’ of the short-legged dogs.

Her comments were made shortly after New Idea hit newsstands with a front-page exposé of Karl and Peter Stefanovic’s ‘b**chy’ leaked phone conversation.

The brothers had discussed several of their Nine colleagues, including Georgie, after an ‘intoxicated’ Peter called Karl on speakerphone during a recent Uber ride.

The Uber driver apparently ‘overheard’ the discussion and later sold details of what was said to New Idea. (He denied secretly recording the conversation).

Karl had allegedly said that Georgie ‘didn’t have enough opinions’ and that she needed to ‘step up… if she wanted to stay on the show’.
