Body language expert weighs in on Harry and Meghan

A body language expert has weighed in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s long-awaited first joint public appearance at the Invictus Games today—and even with millions of eyes watching, the pair couldn’t help but demonstrate their sincere love for each other.

Dr. Lillian Glass, based in Beverly Hills, California, immediately pointed out that she has not seen the 33-year-old Prince this happy and relaxed since he was a little boy. The expert, who has a Ph.D. in Communication Disorders, explained that while Harry usually looks tense or slightly worried, those feelings apparently erase when he’s next to Megan, 36.

She also pointed to several signs that indicate Harry and Meghan stayed in synchronization with each other throughout the tennis match they watched together.

‘First of all, we’ve never seen Harry this relaxed with anybody,’ Lillian said. ‘That’s number one. Every girl he’s been with, there’s kind of been a distancing, an uptightness about him, a real formality. But with Meghan you really see there’s a connection.’

When Harry and Megan walked together while arriving for the game, Lillian pointed out, their feet were in sync, meaning the two were ‘in step, literally’.

‘Their hands are intertwined. Her smile is very genuine, as is his with the raised cheeks the mouth open. This is the real deal here,’ she added.

At one point, the pair tried to sit a bit more formally, with Meghan crossing her arms and Harry clasping his hands. But even in that position, they couldn’t completely suppress their affection.

‘They’re trying to be formal,’ Lillian observed. ‘But the fact they’re both leaning into each other speaks volume.’

Throughout the game, according to Lillian, Meghan tried to act ‘demure’ and ‘very proper’, at one point holding her hands while she was clapping in a ‘very proper’.

‘It’s really quite refreshing to see this type of affection in a way where you’re trying to be discreet, yet it’s leaking out,’ she added.

After watching a video of the pair interacting during the tennis game, with Harry pointing out something in the distance to Meghan, Lillian pointed out how ‘receptive’ the two were to each other, with Meghan smiling at her boyfriend while he looked at her ‘lovingly’.

‘He’s very comfortable. He’s leaning into her,’ she added. ‘And look at their seating. It’s very male and female in terms of the woman takes up less room and the man takes up more room. She’s trying to be more demure.’

Harry, she said, hasn’t looked this relaxed in public since he was a little boy.

For contrast, Lillian looked at another taken during the day, which shows the Prince talking to an official while arriving at the Canadian Institute for Military and Veterans Mental Health Research.

‘There’s a tension in his face,’ she said. ‘That’s usually how he is. His forehead is wrinkled.’

In comparison, she added, his outing with Meghan was ‘the first time you [saw] Harry relaxed and connected, which makes you feel it’s the real thing’.

‘He usually looks tormented, like there’s something bothering him,’ she continued. ‘He used to act out when he was younger in a very bad, bad way. We see for the first time since his mother has passed that he’s happy.’

Harry and Megan’s apparent ease in front of the cameras, she added, is a sign of true love.

‘It doesn’t matter there’s dozens of people watching. It’s just the world revolves around he and she. And that means love,’ she said. ‘You don’t pay attention to anything else around you or anyone else. You’re not self-conscious.’
