Body of Nepalese national, 25, is discovered just hours after he disappeared while swimming with three friends who were rescued

The body of a man who disappeared under the water while swimming in Sydney’s west today, has been found.

At 11.30am on Sunday, emergency services were called to Bents Basin, about an hour west of Sydney, after a group of men were seen struggling in the water. 

Three men, believed to be aged in their 20s, were rescued by bystanders, however, a 25-year-old man did not resurface after disappearing underwater.

A search began involving local police, assisted by Fire & Rescue NSW, NSW Ambulance, and NSW State Emergency Service.

Assistance was also been sought from police divers.

Just after 1.30pm the body of a man believed to be a Nepalese national was found.  

Bents Basin Road in Wallacia and Bents Basin has been closed to the public as the search was conducted.
