Bomb scare rocks major Melbourne hospital as cops cordon off area and question a driver of parked car with an ‘unidentified item’ inside

Police are investigating following a bomb scare outside a major Melbourne hospital on Tuesday afternoon. 

Emergency crews raced to the scene outside the Royal Melbourne Hospital just before 5pm.

It followed a report of an ‘unidentified item’ spotted inside a vehicle on Grattan Street in Parkville.

According to the Herald Sun, Victoria Police and a team of medical specialists are said to be talking to a man inside the hospital who is connected to the vehicle.

In a statement, the Royal Melbourne Hospital said it was ‘working with Victoria Police following an incident out the front of the hospital’.

‘Thank you to Victoria Police and RMH staff for their quick action during the incident,’ the statement read.
