A bomb squad has locked down a suburban shopping centre car park as they investigate concerns relating to a nearby bus.
Pedestrians at Northland Shopping Centre, in the north Melbourne suburb of Preston, were escorted from the area and told to switch off their phones at about 9pm on Thursday, eyewitnesses reported.
‘The security guards were just holding us back and telling one or two of us go at a time,’ one shopper, Kodie McClelland, told AAP.

‘There was just police or security guards everywhere searching for something’.
Police have confirmed that officers conducted safety checks on the bus along Murray Road while the bomb response unit was en route.
