A school teacher has been charged after allegedly drugging and then sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy.

Bradley van Praag, 43, allegedly ‘used a substance to drug’ the teenage boy before assaulting him in the Tamworth region in NSW ‘s north-west in 2023.

He was arrested at his home in Windsor in January after detectives launched an investigation into the alleged incident.

The teacher has since been charged with two counts of aggravated sexual assault — with a victim under the age of 16 years.

Police will allege in court that Mr van Praag used a substance to drug a 14-year-old boy before sexually assaulting him.

In a statement, police alleged they seized two mobile phones and a laptop during a search warrant at a Quirindi home near Tamworth.

He was formally refused bail and remanded in custody after facing Penrith Local Court on Wednesday, January 29.

After the teacher appeared in court, detectives forensically examined the two phones and laptops found at the Quirindi address.
