According to surf website Aquabumps, some surfers refused to come to shore so lifeguards on jetskis had to drag them from the water.

‘Two dudes said they saw a two-metre Great White Shark swimming in the lineup at South Bondi,’ the website read.

‘The lifeguards had the ski going and were pulling people out of the water that resisted the alarm warning.’

The shark did not attack and surfers were allowed to return to the water once it moved on.

A Waverly Council spokesman confirmed the shark sighting but declined to comment.
