Bondi Junction: Hunt for two fake rideshare drivers who allegedly sexually assaulted woman

Manhunt for two ‘fake rideshare drivers’ who allegedly ‘kidnapped a woman, 27, and raped her in an apartment’

  • Police on the hunt for two men accused of posing as fake rideshare drivers

Two men allegedly posed as rideshare drivers to lure a woman into their car before sexually assaulting her.

The two men, believed to be aged in their 30s, picked up the 27-year-old woman from Bondi Junction in Sydney’s east at about 2am on Friday, April 1. 

Police allege the duo drove the woman to an apartment in Wolli Creek, about a 30 minute drive south, where she was sexually assaulted and then let go.

Images and CCTV footage of two men police believe can assist in ongoing inquiries have been released to the public. 

In the footage, the men are seen walking along a footpath, getting inside a vehicle, and buzzing into an apartment building with two others.  

The first man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 160cm tall with a medium build.

He has black hair and a black beard and was last seen wearing a blue jumper with a white and red logo on the rear of the collar.

The second man is described as being of Mediterranean/Middle Eastern appearance, about 160cm tall with a medium build. 

He has black hair worn in a bun and a beard and was wearing a white hooded jumper with a ‘Nike’ logo on the back and jeans. 

The alleged assault was reported to officers at St George Police Area Command with police forming Strike Force Wannamurra to investigate the incident. 

Anyone who may have information that can assist police is urged to contact St George Police Area Command or Crime Stoppers.
