Bones found in a national park have been confirmed as those of a man who vanished four years ago with $130 in cash and camping gear.  

On Monday police said the remains discovered by bushwalkers in the Royal National Park, south of Sydney, on June 2 were those of missing 43-year-old man Stuart Dohrn.

‘These remains were taken for forensic examination, and investigators have now been advised that they have been confirmed as those of the missing man,’ a police spokesperson said in a statement.

Police have kept Mr Dohrn’s family up to date with the developments.

Mr Dohrn was reported missing on December 14, 2015 after last being seen that afternoon at his home in Woronora in Sydney’s south. 

He had left with $130 cash and camping gear including a tent before he disappeared, however his wallet and mobile phone were both found at his home.  

Mr Dohrn was known as an avid camper and at the time of his disappearance he was suffering from a medical condition which required medication.    

There were no confirmed sightings of Mr Dohrn between the day he went missing and the discovery of his skeletal remains in June.
