Boris Johnson and his pregnant fiancee Carrie Symonds have not yet followed Donald Trump in being tested for coronavirus – as they have shown no symptoms.

But The Mail on Sunday understands parts of 10 Downing Street were secretly deep-cleaned overnight late last week after officials and MPs who had visited were struck down as suspected cases.

The US President has admitted to being tested after coming into contact with coronavirus sufferers, however UK Government sources insist a test for the UK’s Prime Minister would be pointless at this stage.

One said: ‘Until you are showing symptoms, there is very little point in doing a test as it is wildly inaccurate. The clearest tests are the tests of the symptoms.’

Fears the PM and the Cabinet could be blighted have grown after Heath Minister Nadine Dorries tested positive for Covid-19 last week. She attended a No 10 reception with Mr Johnson and Ms Symonds.

Meanwhile No 10 have ordered all Government departments to ‘find relevant experts’ to put on the airwaves in the place of Ministers during the crisis.

A Tory source said: ‘The last thing people want to see on telly is politicians at a time like this. We are following science, so we should put up the scientists.’
