Jadon Sancho has insisted he is looking forward to returning to Wembley when Borussia Dortmund meet Tottenham in a blockbuster Champions League clash later this week.

The 18-year-old star has enjoyed a sterling season with the German side, playing a pivotal role in their rise to the top of the Bundesliga table.

Sancho, who has earned three caps for England, returns to the national stadium on Wednesday night with Dortmund battling for a place in the last 8 of the Champions League and is confident of shining on his homecoming.

‘Going back to Wembley will just be a nice feeling because that is the home stadium of England and playing there in front of my family and my friends, they are just going to be so amazed and so proud of me I think,’ he said.

‘I never really felt pressure when I used to play in England. That is home for me. I would love to play in front of my hometown.

‘Last time we lost against Tottenham at Wembley but I think we are improved this season. It could be a little bit harder for them this time. Some good players are missing out, we try to take advantage of that.’

Sancho has scored eight times and registered 13 assists in all competitions and was on hot form at the weekend as Dortmund drew with Hoffenheim.

He scored one and set up their other two goals, prompting his own team-mates to brand him incredible. 

Despite his breakthrough year, Sancho is determined not to get carried away and revealed experienced players in the squad have taken him under their wing.

He added: ‘I try to do my best and do my skills, combine that with my team mates. We are all working hard for the team.
