Boxing fans throw CHAIRS at each other during vicious brawl

Shocking footage shows a vicious brawl erupt at a boxing match – with fans throwing chairs at each other during the fracas.

The group had gathered to watch the amateur contest at the Al-Hikmah Centre in Batley, West Yorkshire, on Friday night.

But violence broke out as the judges deliberated over their scores and terrified attendees were forced to run for cover.

The clip of the brawl, filmed by a bystander, shows one man throw two chairs across the room in quick succession.

Another man can then be seen holding one of the red-cushioned seats above his head and crashing it down on top of other fans.

Punches are thrown and chairs are left strewn across the floor an alarm sounds in the background.

KBW Boxing, who organised the event, claim the violence started when a ‘drunk idiot’ set off the fire alarm and threw a chair into the crowd when asked to leave.

Police say no injuries were reported and officers are appealing for witnesses to come forward to help identify those responsible.

A West Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said: ‘Police are appealing for witnesses following reports of disorder at a community centre on Track Road, Batley at about 11.05pm on Friday.

‘Officers were called to reports of disorder in the crowd at a sports event.

‘Those involved dispersed from the scene after police were called. No injuries have been reported.

‘Police are appealing for witnesses, for anyone who has any information or for anyone who has mobile phone footage of the incident to get in touch with officers.

In a statement on its Facebook page, KBW Boxing said: ‘What was a quality night of some fantastic boxing got turned into a very ugly situation by one drunk idiot.

‘The only story of what happened was an idiot set off the fire alarm. When he was asked to leave he refused and started being abusive and threw a chair into the crowd.

‘People from the crowd threw chairs back, members of our team removed the instigators and the fight carried on outside and the boxing resumed afterwards.

‘I know there are many theories and once again KBW’s name is being mentioned in negative light.

‘People fail to realise that we as a voluntary self-funded organisation have delivered 15 boxing shows in this area without a single fight in any of them.

‘We have ran a successful club without incident for over eight years and took hundreds of kids off the streets and motivated them to channel their energy positively. People tend to forget the good quickly.

‘We reiterate no member of Team KBW instigated the events of last night and did their best to minimise the chaos.’
