  • A 15-year-old boy has been hit by another boat as he was water skiing in Sydney 
  • The teenager was being pulled by a speed boat as another boat plowed into him  
  • He has been rushed to St George Hospital and remains in a critical condition 

A 15-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after he was struck by a boat while water skiing in Sydney’s south.

The teenager was hit by a boat just before midday on Saturday while he was competing in a water skiing competition in the Cooks River at Kyeemagh, near Botany Bay.

Four ambulance crews and a helicopter were called to a boat ramp at Tancred Ave after the boy was struck.

The boy was rushed to St George Hospital with series head injuries, a fractured leg and a fractured arm.

NSW police have released a statement saying he remains in a critical condition. 

The drivers of both boats have been taken to hospital for mandatory blood and urine tests.

It’s understood the teenager was competing in a pre-selection event for the ski racing world championships. 

The teenager’s mother and grandmother were in the stands watching the event when the accident happened.

Police will be conducting inquiries and speaking to witnesses into Saturday evening. 

One of the boats involved in the accident has also been towed by police and will be investigated.
