Boy, 2, pulled unresponsive from Sydney pool after swallowing some water

  • A two-year-old boy has been rushed to hospital after ‘swallowing water’ in pool
  • The child was ‘underwater for a couple of seconds’ and found unresponsive
  • Toddler was conscious while being assessed by paramedics and given all clear

A two-year-old boy was pulled unresponsive from a public swimming pool just before midday on Thursday. 

The young child was swimming at Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Aquatic Centre in Sydney’s north when the incident occurred.

New South Wales Ambulance spokesperson told Daily Mail Australia the small boy was underwater for a couple of seconds and swallowed water.

Staff members called Triple 0 after they found the boy had started going pale after having trouble breathing, Manly Daily reported. 

The toddler’s mother reported her son to lifeguards and they began administrating oxygen therapy ‘as precaution’.

The child, who was conscious, was examined by paramedic’s with his father and mother nearby before midday.

NSW Ambulance originally said the boy would need to be transported to Mona Vale Hospital but he was given the all clear at the pool car cark. 

Andrew ‘Boy’ Charlton Aquatic Centre refused to comment when approached by Daily Mail Australia.
