Boy, 6, escapes fire in Sydney’s west after being left home alone in two-storey Penrith townhouse

Terrifying scenes as a six-year-old boy is rescued from a townhouse engulfed in flames after he was left at home ALONE

A six-year-old boy believed to have been left at home on his own has escaped a terrifying house fire after Good Samaritans rushed to his aid.

Emergency services were called to Rodley Avenue in Penrith in Sydney’s west shortly before 6:15pm on Saturday and found a two-storey townhouse engulfed in flames. 

A neighbour walking past the home saw the fire and assisted the boy to get out of the burning home after the little boy smashed a front window trying to escape. 

A six-year-old boy, who was left home alone, narrowly survived the fire with minor cuts after breaking a window on the townhouse’s ground floor and escaping the blaze

Paramedics treated the boy for lacerations before he was taken to Nepean Hospital for further treatment. 

NSW Police told Daily Mail Australia officers had been informed that the boy was the only person in the building at the time the fire broke out. 

The boy’s mother arrived home a short time after emergency services. 

Residents were seen standing on the street speaking with police officers.

Firefighters managed to stop the blaze from spreading to nearby homes but the townhouse was destroyed.

The fire is being treated as not suspicious.

Fire investigators and crime scene officers working to determine if a candle left burning in the kicthen was the cause. 

A child-at-risk notification will be submitted, police confirmed.
