This is the horrifying moment two teenagers climbed onto a crocodile trap in murky waters in Australia’s Northern Territory.
A picture, uploaded to Instagram, showed the pair balancing on the cage as it floated down a river near Batchelor.
The image, which has since been deleted, has been branded ‘dangerous’ and ‘stupid’ online.

Tommy Nichols, NT Wildlife Ranger, said: ‘Apart from the fact it’s dangerous, we’ve had a number of large crocs let out of croc traps by people interfering with them lately.’
Mr Nichols said it wasn’t the first time people had fooled around with the animals in the Northern Territory.

Mr Nichols added: ‘You never know what a crocodile is going to do – it could swim away or it could turn around on you.’
The penalty for mucking around with a crocodile trap is up to six months’ imprisonment and a $7.700 fine.
