The film follows an actor by the name of Rick Dalton, played by Leonardo DiCaprio, and his stunt double, played by Pitt, as they attempt to make a name for themselves in the film industry.

The main story runs parallel to the murder of actress Sharon Tate, played by Robbie, who, along with four friends, was slain by Charles Manson cult followers.

This is Tarantino’s first movie based on true events.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was originally slated to premiere on the 50th anniversary of the murders until Sharon Tate’s sister, Debra, caused a stink.

Out of respect, Sony bumped up the premiere date to July 26, 2019 after Tate called it ‘tacky and exploitative’ to release the movie on the day of her sister’s death—August 9.

According to TMZ, Sharon recently met with Quentin to read over the script and discuss her reservations in regards to the telling of her sister’s murder.

‘This movie is not what people would expect it to be when you combine the Tarantino and Manson names,’ she said after giving Quentin the green light.
