Braunwyn Windham-Burke says lawsuit over $45K in back rent has been resolved

Earlier this month Braunwyn Windham-Burke and her husband Sean were sued for eviction and $45K in back rent owed on their Newport Beach property featured in the Real Housewives of Orange County.

The 43-year-old reality star appeared to brush off the lawsuit in a new interview with Access, explaining that it all came down to a simple ‘discrepancy’, essentially a financial glitch, that has since been resolved.

The Bravo star went on to say she wasn’t even sure what had happened with the suit since she and Sean were never served with paperwork.

Moving on: Braunwyn Windham-Burke appeared to brush off a recent lawsuit where she was accused of stiffing her landlord $45K in a new interview with Access, calling it a ‘discrepancy’ that has since been resolved

‘I found out the same day you guys did,’ Braunwyn told Access, meaning that she learned of the lawsuit in the news.

The Orange County star called the issue over owing tens of thousands of dollars of back rent a ‘discrepancy’ that was easily remedied.

‘They’re saying there was a month we didn’t do it,’ she explained. ‘We have the wire transfer saying we did. So, Sean repaid, even though we had [already].’

Karen Ogden, the owner of the Newport Beach mansion that the pair was renting, filed a civil lawsuit on July 12, and accused the couple after they breached the contract.

The RHOC stars leased the five-bedroom, 8,000-square-foot home for $15,000 per month on a one-year and six-month lease, according to Radar.

While Ogden claimed in documents that the couple failed to make rent payments for three months, Braunwyn says it was after they gave their 30 notice that they wouldn’t be renewing that things started to get complicated.

Adding that she isn’t sure what happened with the suit as they ‘were never served.’

‘My best guess is — because if you had come to my house three weeks ago we hadn’t packed one thing — that they were scared we weren’t moving out,’ she considered. ‘In California, you can’t legally evict anyone right now.’

Adding: ‘You get sued a lot when you’re a public figure. It goes with the territory.’

‘People that you would never expect sue you for stuff. Most of it is frivolous,’ she said.

Braunwyn and Sean moved into the home in November when camera crews were filming the 15th season of Real Housewives of Orange County.

‘When we first saw the house, the thing that I loved was that the island was big enough for eight chairs,’ she told Bravo at the time.

The couple recently announced a ‘trial separation’ from their marriage of 20 years, just seven months after she came out as a lesbian.

‘We are packing up this house, the one we filmed last year, and we are moving. We have decided jointly that we are going to take a few months apart,’ she told her followers on Tuesday.

The couple has seven children: Bella, 20, Rowan, 18, Jacob, 15, twins Curran and Caden, eight, Koa, six, and Hazel, three.

Their kids will enjoy ‘six or seven’ weeks in Kauai with their mom before returning to the West Coast where Sean is looking for another Newport Beach rental.

Depending on how things play out, the exes plan on buying a home where the kids can live full time while the adults split their time 50/50.

‘We really want to do what’s best for us — we are family, we’ve been together for 26 years,’ Braunwyn, who also recently revealed she is sober after struggling with alcohol, went on.

Braunwyn confirmed she was dating fitness instructor Fernanda Rocha in June. The coach met the reality star when she appeared on season six of RHOC as Tamra Judge’s friend.
